altSaudi copyright violators will be forced to take out adverts apologising for their actions in the country's two largest newspapers in new measures announced Tuesday by the kingdom's culture ministry.
A committee at the ministry stressed in a statement to Al-Arabiya.net that the sanction would be imposed on people who had violated copyrights laws and sold pirated material.
Additional sanctions include a 95,000 riyal fine, the forced closure of the violator's shop for 60 days with a sign in the window stating “The shop is closed for 60 days because the owner violated copyright laws," compensation for the affected author and confiscation of the pirated material.
